The Alberta Carbon Trunk Line Project is a large-scale carbon capture, utilization and sequestration (CCUS) system that became fully operational in 2020. The ACTL Project includes participation from multiple partners to capture industrial emissions and deliver CO2 to suitable reservoirs in Central Alberta for permanent storage and use in enhanced oil recovery. The project permanently sequesters approximately 1.7 million tonnes of CO2 per year. The ACTL pipeline has excess capacity to bring additional emissions sources into the system (up to 14.6 MTPA).
