Vattenfall and Swedish fuel company Preem are collaborating on a project aimed at producing green hydrogen for biofuel production at the Lysekil Refinery. The companies have conducted a study to investigate the possibility of meeting Preem’s hydrogen needs by water electrolysis, including consideration to the future electrical supply. A capacity of 50 MW is being investigated currently with potential to scale up to 200-500 MW.
