Greensand is the most mature CCS project in Denmark with the possibility of storing up to 1.5 million tons of CO2 per year at the end of 2025. As storage sites expand to the ‘Siri Fairway’ area, this will further increase giving storage capacity of up to 8 million tons of CO2 per year in 2030. Similarly to other storage projects in the North Sea, the Greensand project is aiming to set up an open-source supply chain, providing CCS services to third-party customers in Europe. This model will be tested with a trial project, capturing CO2 from Ineos’ Belgian ethylene plant and shipping it to Greensand via the Port of Antwerp.
