Fire-side Chat: Walking the Timeline to Net Zero Metals

Join our panellists as they take a timeline approach to examine what each phase of decarbonisation will look like for metals manufacturers between now and 2040.

The discussion will take a glimpse of “what’s happening” at 3-5 year increments along the timeline and will discuss the critical, strategic and deployment phases along the way. While we focus on metals for this discussion, the webinar will also be relevant to other energy-intensive manufacturers looking for the technical, financial and organisation deliverables that are needed in order to achieve net zero.

This is about more than just technology; this is about establishing the ways of working that will be real-world essentials if we’re to achieve decarbonisation. Join us as we discover where the grittiest challenges lie and how they can be tackled.

Panellists:
Richard Adams, CEO, Warralong Group

André Vidal, Head of Hydrogen Fuel Switch Solutions, Hydro Havrand

Hans Van Der Weijde, Director – Programmes, TATA Steel R&D

Key takeaways:

  • What lies behind the technologies that can transform hard to abate sectors? What are the implementation realities and budget requirements?
  • How will collaborations with perhaps unusual suspects get moving and who might those collaborators need to be?
  • What could the market-leading customer collaborations look like, the ones that spark market demand for green products?
  • How can we activate widespread demand and make it easier (starting in 2022)?
  • At what point on the timeline will green products be common in the market? The dominant material in the market?
  • What kind of cultural and societal transformation might be needed to secure a green industrial future?
