LIBERTY Steel Group aims to invest up to €1 billion over the next seven years in the LIBERTY Galati GREENSTEEL transformation plan. The key element of the project is installation of two electric arc furnaces, a DRI plant and an integrated MI.DA minimill. The new furnaces are expected to reduce CO2 emissions per tonne of steel by around 80%, and – once the plant has transitioned to using green Hydrogen – the carbon emissions will be virtually zero.
