A memorandum of understanding has been signed between Whitecap Resources and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) for a carbon capture, utilization and storage project at FCL’s ethanol complex near Belle Plaine. The CO2 would then be compressed, transported and sequestered by Whitecap as part of the Weyburn Unit COD Enhanced Oil Recovery operations. It is expected that this facility will be operational by the end of 2024.
