Project Type: CCS Hub

Meadowbrook Hub Project

March 1, 2023

The Meadowbrook project aims to sequester 3 million tonnes per annum of CO2 captured from local emitters. In 2022, Bison received an evalutation phase carbon storage tenure for a 70,000 hectare area north of Morinville. The evaluation phase has commenced and is expected to be completed by late 2023.

Atlas Hub

March 1, 2023

The Atlas Carbon Sequestration Hub would service Alberta’s industrial heartland region, east of Edmonton, providing permanent subsurface carbon storage for industrial users, in an open access “hub” format. The Atlas Hub would be anchored by CO2 volumes from the proposed Shell Polaris carbon capture project and the ATCO-Suncor clean hydrogen project and will build on the success […]

Net Zero Teesside (East Coast Cluster)

March 1, 2023

Net Zero Teesside is a collection of industrial, power and hydrogen businesses which aim to decarbonise their operations through the deployment of carbon capture utilisation and storage. The companies that are planning to utilise this infrastructure and capture CO2 at their sites include NZT Power, BOC, CF Fertiliser, Kellas, bp, Suez and Whitetail, and are […]

HyNet

March 1, 2023

HyNet is an ambitious project in the Northwest of England which aims to provide the infrastructure for both low carbon hydrogen production and CCS. Various members of the consortium are involved in different aspects of the project such as hydrogen production (Essar, Vertex), hydrogen transportation (Cadent), hydrogen storage (Inovyn), CO2 transport and CO2 sequestration (ENI). […]

Humber Zero

March 1, 2023

Humber Zero is a project to decarbonise industry at scale in and around the Immingham area on the south bank of the Humber in North Lincolnshire. It involves hydrogen production and carbon capture facilities. Humber Zero is supported by Innovate UK through the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) including match funding a £12.5 […]

Alberta Carbon Grid

March 1, 2023

The ACG Industrial Heartland project aims to provide emitters in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland with a cost-effective, safe and reliable solution to permanently store CO2. The project will be developed in phases with the potential capability of transporting and storing up to 10 million tonnes of CO2 annually when fully developed. In March 2022, the project progressed […]

Acorn Project

March 1, 2023

The Acorn Project is a carbon capture and storage project specifically designed to overcome one of the acknowledged blockers to CCS deployment in the UK – the high capital costs involved in getting started. Based at the St Fergus gas terminal in Northeast Scotland, Acorn CCS can repurpose existing gas pipelines to take CO2 directly […]

Aramis

March 1, 2023

The Aramis project is a collaboration between Total Energies, Shell, EBN and Gasunie that aims to reduce the CO2 emissions of hard-to-abate industries in the Port of Rotterdam. It will do this by offering a decarbonisation solution for the industrial sectors by enabling the transport of CO₂ to depleted offshore gas fields under the North […]

Bayou Bend

March 1, 2023

Chevron, Talos Energy and Carbonvert announced today the execution of definitive documentation and closing of the expanded joint venture to develop the Bayou Bend CCS offshore carbon capture and sequestration hub. The Bayou Bend CCS project site encompasses over 40,000 gross acres and, based on Talos and Carbonvert’s preliminary estimates, could potentially sequester 225 to […]
