Carbon Upcycling Technologies (CUT) and CRH Ventures have announced a collaboration to deploy a 50 tonnes/day CUT reactor at Ashgrove Cement Company’s plant in Mississauga. The reactor will upcycle local alternative steel slag and capture carbon emissions from the cement kiln exhaust to be transformed into a cementitious material. Phase 1 of the project is expected to reduce up to 5% of CO2 per tonne of cement, and the final project scale is projected to reduce up to 20% of CO2 per tonne of cement.
