Norcem: HeidelbergCement’s 300m EUR CCUS project

Join Alex and learn about HeidelbergCement’s CCUS project at their Norcem plant in Norway.

The Norcem plant in Norway is about to break ground on its CCUS project after over 10 years of research, testing and planning. Find out about the project, the stage of development and funding – plus get some insights into the future business model and supply chain needed to make these projects sustainable and truly scalable.

CCUS has come a long way in the last few years, and whilst heavy industrials are also pursuing fuel switching, efficiency and electrification to drive down CO2 – few believe they can achieve carbon neutrality without access to CCUS. In this episode we’ll discuss the path the project has taken, the ticket price of something of this scale and the choice of technology. We also talk about the business model needed for investable CCUS projects to succeed across the hard to abate sectors.

Decarb Connect supports the acceleration of industrial decarbonisation around the globe. We share insights and facilitate collaborations across the emerging decarbonisation ecosystem. We look specifically at the most energy-intensive industrials from cement, metals and mining, glass, ceramics, chemicals, O&G and many more and help connect them to technology disruptors, investors and advisors.

Through the Decarbonisation Leaders Network (DLN), our members (a cross-sector network of those leading decarbonisation in energy-intensive industries) share insights and experiences as they accelerate their Net Zero plans.
