PyroGenesys: Converting waste to value

PyroGenesys’ Simon Ighofose joins Alex to discuss how to convert off-grid communities’ waste to value.

Simon Ighofose, CEO and Co-Founder of PyroGenesys, talks with Alex about building technology and a new business out of a passion for supporting off-grid communities. We look at the pyrolysis tech that is the heart of PyroGenesys’ business, and we talk about the scale of the market opportunity for both developed industrial markets as so-called “bottom of the pyramid” off-grid communities. The technology is about to go into a pilot phase at a facility in the northwest of England and will be proving its capabilities in thermal separation – ultimately enabling crops like cassava (or any waste material) to convert to high value products including kerosene and other fuels in wide use across Africa. This technology has applications for manufacturers in developing markets too.

If, like us, you like to hear about the innovations that are getting ready to scale and which offer solutions for circular economy/decarbonization then this episode is for you.

Decarb Connect supports the acceleration of industrial decarbonisation around the globe. We share insights and facilitate collaborations across the emerging decarbonisation ecosystem. We look specifically at the most energy-intensive industrials from cement, metals and mining, glass, ceramics, chemicals, O&G and many more and help connect them to technology disruptors, investors and advisors.

Through the Decarbonisation Leaders Network (DLN), our members (a cross-sector network of those leading decarbonisation in energy-intensive industries) share insights and experiences as they accelerate their Net Zero plans. Check out Decarb Connect’s offerings and learn about the Decarbonisation Leaders Network members, meetups and benefits.
